This weekend I got a visit from my awesome Cali friend Amber. Which, as any New Yorker will tell you, meant I took advantage of a bunch of things the city has to offer that I never would have experienced otherwise. And, somehow, almost all of those things tied in with the Mechalarum theme!
First, we spent some time helping out with a coastal cleanup, and got to see several massive helicopters landing right below the NYC skyline.
Next, we headed over to the awesome Singularity & Co scifi + fantasy bookstore in Brooklyn to check out their collection of used and classic books.
The sections are clearly marked, for those who get easily distracted - or lost!
Tastefully appointed. Oh-so-apropos decorations!
And some awesome illustrations to stir the imagination!
Then we stopped off at the Hayden Planetarium. Definitely the space-iest thing I've seen up close so far in New York.
Got to see a big chunk of space material.
Cool space pictures.
And finished with a stop at the American Museum of Natural History to check out the fantastically varied morphologies of flying creatures.
Hmm, maybe I can get some ideas for my next Mechalarum suit costume...
